What we do
Digital Media
supportyoursurgery.org.uk
Summary
The BMA are concerned that plans to introduce more commercial providers and polyclinics into general practice could destabilise existing services, depersonalise care and put some GP practices at risk of closure.
All GP surgeries throughout England received printed campaign packs comprising of a petition, together with a range of other literature about the campaign and explaining how patients and the general public could show their support.
What we did
bda created a website, which reflected the bold creative style of the rest of the activities and provided all stakeholders, through a simple to use site, with information about the campaign, details on how to show their support and sign the petition, as well as PIN secured forms to facilitate requests for additional campaign literature from surgeries and their staff.Working closely with the BMA, bda had just 2 weeks to build the site, and populate it with content, ready for launch.
The results
At the time of presenting the petition to the Prime Minister on 12th June 2008, the number of signatures totalled 1,236,085, all of which were collected in just three weeks. The campaign created tremendous interest and received considerable national press and TV coverage. The supportyoursurgery.org.uk site had 24,172 unique visitors during the life of the campaign (19th May 2008 - 20th June 2008) and at its peak received 2,894 unique visitors in a single day.

"The supportyoursurgery.org.uk site was vital in the provision of a central point to direct all stakeholders during the course of the campaign. In spite of a tight timeframe the site was delivered as promised, and became an intrinsic and valuable part of our activities." - Head of Marketing and Publications, BMA.
